Anna Sergeyevna Kournikova

Born on June 7, 1981
Anna Sergeyevna Kournikova (Russian: Anna_kournikova.ogg Анна Сергеевна Ку́рникова, Anna Sergeevna Kurnikova) is a semi-retired Russian professional tennis player and model. Her celebrity status made her one of the best known tennis players worldwide. At the peak of her fame, fans looking for images of Kournikova made her name one of the most common search strings on the Internet search engine Google.

Has anyone ever looked better in a tennis outfit (we are so grateful for those short white skirts)? Not likely -- Anna Kournikova is sculpted like a goddess. The tennis court was her stage, where she simultaneously (and successfully) flirted with and stunned thousands of admirers. This Russian pinup had the power of filling up arenas when she was scheduled to play. How many women can be credited with the same feat?

Men's magazines like FHM always have included her among the hottest women, and she was named Sexiest Woman in the World in FHM's 100 Sexiest Girls poll in 2002. Her sex appeal has also managed to sell calendars, and the Sports Illustrated issue with Anna Kournikova on the cover was one of the highest-selling issues the magazine has ever published. So it looks like Anna Kournikova's sexiness is unanimous: it doesn't get much hotter than her.

In 1986, Anna became a member of the prestigious Spartak Tennis Club, coached by Larissa Preobrazhenskaya. In 1989, at the tender age of eight, Anna began appearing in junior tournaments, and by the following year, was attracting attention from tennis scouts across the world. Anna signed a management deal at age ten and went to Bradenton, Florida to train at Nick Bollettieri's celebrated tennis academy.

Following her arrival in the United States, Anna exploded onto the tennis scene, making her the internationally recognized tennis star she is today. At the age of 14, she went on to win the European Championships and the Italian Open Junior tournament. Anna also beat out the competition to win the prestigious Junior Orange Bowl, becoming the youngest player ever to win the 18 and under division at that tournament. By the end of the year, Anna was crowned the ITF Junior World Champion U-18 and Junior European Champion U-18.

In 1994, Anna Kournikova received a wild card into ITF tournament in Moscow qualifications, but lost to the third seed Sabine Appelmans.

Kournikova debuted in professional tennis at age 14 in the Fed Cup for Russia, the youngest player ever to participate and win. In 1995, she turned pro, and won two ITF titles, in Midland, Michigan and Rockford, Illinois. At age 15, she made her grand slam debut, when she reached the fourth round of the 1996 U.S. Open, only to be stopped by then-top ranked player, Steffi Graf, eventual champion. After this tournament, her ranking jumped from No. 144 to debut in Top 100 at No. 69.

Kournikova was a member of the Russian delegation to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1996, she was named WTA Newcomer of the Year, and she was ranked No. 57 in the end of the season.

In 2000, Anna Kournikova broke into the top 10, reaching No. 8 in singles. She was also ranked #4 in doubles at the end of the season.

In singles she reached the finals of the Kremlin Cup, where she lost to Martina Hingis. She also reached eight semifinals and seven quarter finals. She was again more successful in doubles. She played the finals of the mixed doubles at the US Open, partnering with Max Mirnyi.

With Julie Halard-Decugis, she won the tournament in Gold Coast, Australia. Partnering with Barbara Schett, she reached the semifinals of the Australian Open. With Natasha Zvereva, she lost in the finals at Indian Wells. They also won at Hamburg. She lost in the finals at San Diego, partnering with Lindsay Davenport. With Martina Hingis, she won at Zürich, the Kremlin Cup, and at Philadelphia and the WTA Championships.

In 2003, Anna Kournikova collected first grand slam match victory in two years at Australian Open. She defeated Henrieta Nagyová in the 1st round, and then lost to Justine Henin-Hardenne in the 2nd round. She withdrew from Tokyo due to sprained back suffered at Australian Open and did not return to Tour until Miami. Kournikova retired in the 1st round of Charleston due to left adductor strain.

She reached the semifinals at ITF tournament in Sea Island, before withdrawing from match versus Maria Sharapova due to adductor injury. She lost in the 1st round of ITF tournament in Charlottesville. She did not compete for rest of season due to continuing back injury

Kournikova's two Grand Slam doubles titles came in 1999 and 2002, both at the Australian Open in the Women's Doubles event with partner Martina Hingis, with whom she played frequently starting in 1999. Kournikova proved a successful doubles player on the professional circuit, winning 16 tournament doubles titles, including two Australian Opens and being a finalist in mixed doubles at the U.S. Open and at Wimbledon, and reaching the No.1 ranking in doubles in the Women's Tennis Association tour rankings. Her pro career doubles record was 200–71. However, her singles career plateaued after 1999. For the most part, she managed to retain her ranking between 10 and 15 (her career high singles ranking was No.8), but her expected finals breakthrough failed to occur; she only reached four finals out of 130 singles tournaments, never in a Grand Slam event, and never won one.

Playing style
  • As a player, Kournikova was noted for her footspeed and aggressive baseline play, and excellent angles and dropshots; however, her relatively flat, high-risk groundstrokes tended to produce frequent errors, and her serve was sometimes unreliable in singles.
  • Kournikova holds her racket in her right hand but uses both hands when she plays backhand shots. She is a good player at the net. She can hit forceful groundstrokes and also drop shots.
  • Her playing style fits the profile for a doubles player, and is complemented by her height. She has been compared to such doubles specialists as Pam Shriver and Peter Fleming.
Anna Kournikova Quotes

“I think it's really important for me not to forget where I came from.”

"There are a lot of pretty girls. I am a tennis player first of all, that is why I am here, and if wasn`t producing results no one would notice me. "

"When I play, I feel like in a theatre, why should I look ugly then, because I`m a tennis-player? "

"You don`t think people would go on about my looks if I was No. 500 in the world instead of No.12, do you? Anyway, as I keep telling everyone, you can`t blame me for looking like this on purpose. "

"I`ve just done a commercial in the U.S. in which I talk about stocks, shares and bonds. Everyone is amazed. They ask me: `You really know about that stuff or did you just learn it for the commercial?` I tell them I wouldn`t do it unless I understood and had an interest. "

"I have a lot of boyfriends, I want you to write that. Every country I visit, I have a different boyfriend. And I kiss them all. "

"Do I consider myself sexy? It all depends on the way I`m feeling. When I`m happy inside, that`s when I feel most sexy. "

"A court is like a scene, people want to see attractive people."

"I'm like a menu at an expensive restaurant -- you can look at me, but you can't afford me."
- Anna Kournikova

Kathryn Ann "Katee" Sackhoff

Born on April 8, 1980
Kathryn Ann "Katee" Sackhoff is an American actress known for playing Captain Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on the Sci Fi Channel's Peabody Award-winning television program Battlestar Galactica. In 2004 she was nominated for a Saturn Award in the "Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series" category for her work in the Battlestar Galactica miniseries. In May 2006, she won the Saturn Award for the same role. She will star in the eighth season of 24 as a series regular.

Katee Sackhoff’s sex appeal is nothing if not versatile. Before taking on the role of Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica, Katee says she was always portrayed as a sweet, innocent little blonde girl from Oregon. Now she’s being drooled over by sci-fi nerds as a go-to tough girl. It’s a testament to Katee’s fun personality and physical attractiveness that she can appeal to such diametrically opposed male fantasies.

Katee herself doesn’t like the kind of complications that can come from being so appealing. For example, Katee doesn’t approve of the love triangles Starbuck gets tangled in with her Galactica crewmates. “I wish she would just be with one of them and call it a day,” she jokes. Although she doesn’t go into details about her private life, Katee is reported to be seeing Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle John Welbourn.

When asked if she had to keep the fate of starbuck a secret
I did. Isn't that horrible? I called David about on day two crying, going, "I can't do this. I'm lying to my family and they're all so upset." Everyone thinks that their show is going to get canceled. I was like, "You guys can't do this to me. You're going to have to tell some people." So they told Eddie [James Olmos] and I knew that once they told Eddie, he would tell everybody.

when asked if she was a fan of the original "Bionic Woman":
I wasn't born. Like "Battlestar Galactica", I'm just going to remake old shows for a living. I keep saying that next is "A-Team" and I'm going to play 'Face'. Just for sh!ts and giggles

when asked what she would like to see happen to Starbuck in season 4:
We'd shot maybe one episode of the last season, and "TV Guide" asked me, can you tell us anything about the series, and I said as a joke, "Yeah, I'm a Cylon, and I die." And then seven episodes [later] I get a phone call from David and [executive producer] Ron [Moore] going, "Just so you know, we love you, but we're going to kill you." So I want to say I have no idea what's going to happen, and I just hope that it leaves the fans happy.

First appearing in a series of commercials, TV movies and shows, Sackhoff got her first recurring role as 'Annie' in MTV's Undressed, next gaining a supporting role as Nell Bickford in The Education of Max Bickford. Katee made her motion picture debut in My First Mister, next appearing in film as Jenna "Jen" Danzig in Halloween: Resurrection.

Sackhoff appeared in her most notable role as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in the mini-series and followup TV series of Battlestar Galactica, for which the actress won a Saturn Award in 2005 for Best Actress on Television. The actress's persona led the writers to develop the character of Starbuck as a more volatile and complex character. What executive produce Ron Moore described as magnetism, David Eick, producer, expanded stating, "We saw this whole other side that was all because of Katee—vulnerability, insecurity, desperation. We started freeing ourselves up to explore the weakness of the character, because we knew Katee could express those things without compromising the character's strength."

Sackhoff was next cast as the evil cyborg Sarah Corvus in the short-lived NBC series, Bionic Woman. David Eick, executive producer for the show, stated, "She's a very special find. Those actors who can combine the qualities of strength and vulnerability—they usually call those people movie stars."

Sackhoff plays the female lead in the action/scifi movie The Last Sentinel and the supernatural thriller White Noise 2: The Light.

The actress appears as the main character in the Lifetime Original Movie How I Married My High School Crush, as well as guest appearances in Cold Case, ER, Law and Order, and Robot Chicken.

Sackhoff provided the voice of a female marine in the video game Halo 3 and is also featured in the viral marketing campaign for Resistance 2.

She appears in four episodes of the fifth season of the hit FX series Nip/Tuck, playing a new doctor, Dr. Theodora Rowe. Sackhoff was later replaced by Rose McGowan for the role.

Sackhoff headlined NBC's Dick Wolf-produced cop drama Lost and Found, which centered on Tessa (Sackhoff), "an offbeat female LAPD detective who, after butting heads with the higher-ups, is sent as a punishment to the basement to work on John Doe and Jane Doe cases." The pilot was filmed in January 2009. NBC decided not to pick up the series.

Sackhoff will appear as a series regular in the eighth season of the hit television series 24, playing Dana Walsh, a CTU data analyst with a secret.

Katee Sackhoff Quotes

“I get some very nice fan letters.
Someone actually sent one to my parents, with another letter inside for me. Kinda weird.”

"I was addicted to the original Star Trek" when I was growing up, because of my dad. We grew up in St. Helen, Oregon and we weren`t allowed to watch a lot of TV. I don`t think we even
had more than three channels, so it was basically watch "Dynasty" with my mom, watch "Star Trek" with my dad, or watch the mating rituals of beavers on OPB [Oregon Public Broadcasting]. So my brother and I watched "Star Trek." "

“Every sex scene is always, without a doubt, terribly funny.”

Anne Jacqueline Hathaway

Born on November 12, 1982
Anne Jacqueline Hathaway is an American actress. She made her acting debut in the 1999 television series Get Real, but her first prominent role was in Disney's family comedy The Princess Diaries (starring opposite Julie Andrews), which established her career.

From her 2001 role in The Princess Diaries to her 2008 appearance in Rachel Getting Married, it’s clear that Anne Hathaway is one of those actresses who improves as she ages. While Anne’s willingness to explore her more sultry side has certainly won her a legion of male fans, she possesses the acting chops that’ll ensure she’s never thought of as just another pretty face.

Anne Hathaway Quotes

“Over the
last few years I've learned that the Next Big Thing is something a lot of people wish and want for you -- but what you wish for yourself is really important too.”

“I was 17 years old when I was cast in The Princess Diaries. That film landed, and it landed big. And so I became identified with a role that wasn't really me.”

"I look my best after an entire hair and makeup team has spent hours perfecting me. When do I feel my best? When I haven`t looked in a mirror for days, and I`m doing things that make me happy. "

"Films are letting me get older, which is really nice, because there was always this fear of what happens when I stop being a teenager. But for everyone else, it was kind of a sharp left. "

"I really don`t drink, I don`t do drugs. I feel like right now I`ve been given so many opportunities I don`t want to mess it up with those things ... I think I was raised in a solidly upper-middle class family who had really strong values and excess was not one of the things that my family put up with. - On avoiding the hard partying young-star life style "

"I`ll be honest with you, it really, really, really annoys me, the image that`s put out there for women. These tiny, tiny bodies, with absolutely no fat at all on them. It`s unhealthy, plain and simple, and there are only a handful of women in the world who are naturally like that. It makes me sick. "

"I think that fashion can be a lot of fun. I love clothes, but I recognize that it should only be a hobby. Some clothes that are more design-based look better on women with figures like wire hangers, because that`s the nature of the design. I won`t wear those clothes. "

- Anne Hathaway

Hathaway's first role in a motion picture was as Jean Sabin in The Other Side of Heaven, opposite Christopher Gorham. Before production of Heaven began in New Zealand, she auditioned for the lead role of Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries, directed by Garry Marshall. Hathaway auditioned for the role during a flight layover on the way to New Zealand and won the role after only one audition. Marshall claimed that he loved her immediately because she fell off her chair during the audition and believed her clumsiness would make her perfect for the role. (However, in a 2008 conversation with Steve Carell, Hathaway denied that she fell during this audition, although she openly admits to being a "klutz".) The Princess Diaries was released before The Other Side of Heaven in the hopes that its success would increase interest in Heaven. Across the world, The Princess Diaries was a commercial success, and a sequel was planned shortly after. Many critics praised Hathaway's performance in Diaries; a BBC critic noted that "Hathaway shines in the title role and generates great chemistry." The Other Side of Heaven was received weakly by critics, but it performed well for a religion-themed film.

In February 2002, Hathaway starred opposite Brian Stokes Mitchell in the City Center Encores! concert production of Carnival! in New York City, receiving positive reviews for her portrayal of Lili. Also in 2002, Hathaway began voicing the audio book releases of The Princess Diaries and has since voiced the first three books of the series. She also provided the voice of the character Haru in the English version of Hiroyuki Morita's The Cat Returns.

Hathaway continued to appear in family-oriented films over the next three years, subsequently becoming known in mainstream media as a children's role model. In 2002, she appeared in Nicholas Nickleby, opposite Charlie Hunnam and Jamie Bell, which opened to positive reviews. The Northwest Herald referred to it as "an unbelievably fun film," and the Deseret News said that the cast was "Oscar-worthy." Despite critical acclaim, the film never entered wide release and failed at the North American box office, totaling less than US$4-million in ticket sales.

In 2004, Hathaway was set to star opposite Gerard Butler in The Phantom of the Opera, but was forced to turn down the role because the production schedule of the film overlapped with that of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, which she was contractually obligated to make. Disney began production on The Princess Diaries 2 in early 2004, and it was released in August of that year. The film opened to negative reviews, but still managed to peak higher at the box office than its predecessor, commissioning $95.1-million against a $40-million budget.

Hathaway began appearing in more dramatic roles after The Princess Diaries 2. She said that "anybody who was a role model for children needs a reprieve," although she also noted that "it's lovely to think that my audience is growing up with me", a reference to her previous status as a children's actress.]She voiced Little Red Riding Hood in Hoodwinked! (2005), which received generally positive reviews. That same year, Hathaway starred in the R-rated Havoc, in which she played a spoiled socialite. In a surprise move, Hathaway was featured in several nude and sexual scenes throughout the film. Although the content of the movie was radically different from her previous films, Hathaway denied that her role in the film was a blatant attempt to be seen as more of a mature actress, citing her belief that doing nudity in certain movies is merely a part of what her chosen form of art demands of her; and because of that belief she does not consider appearing nude in appropriate films to be morally objectionable

on filming a raunchy scene with Steve Carrell in "Get Smart"
There was a health scare last year and a certain contact solution - I won't say the name of it but it was the one that I use - gave you conjunctivitis. I also had a sinus infection at the same time. So I had to go up to Steve, my eye is red, puffy and dripping green - I'm snotty and I'm just like "Come here!"

her idea of a perfect date
Being laid back, putting on your favorite pair of flip-flops, grabbing a pizza and going to see an unexpectedly great film. Just walking and talking, when the weather is right. You know those dates when everything just comes together? And it's nothing that you could even put your finger on. You're not doing anything all that special. There's just a mood.

about going topless for one of her movies
It's not the most fun requirement of the job, but nor is it something that I would ever not do a job because of. It is what it is. Some people choose not to do it on moral grounds, but I think that's a shoddy argument.

on how she lost weight
I was on vacation. We were on a boat and had a chef, so I was able to tell her to make me delicious things that were low in calories. And once I got on the set, the stress kept it down. By the way, I just have to say half of it has come back, so it’s not a foolproof plan.
