50's Strapless Satin Long Gown Bridesmaid Prom Dress Holiday Formal Junior Plus Size

DESCRIPTION:

It is VERY well made, especially for the price! It is equivilent to a $125-150 dress at Dillard's or a $200 dress at any bridal shop. The fabric is nice, thick, quality satin. The bodice is fully lined with boning in strategic areas to help provide that hourglass look as well as with holding the dress up on those "blessed" in the bust area. The skirt has a detached lining reaching to the floor with mesh material from about the knee down. The bow at the waist has 2 streamers hanging from it that are a foot long or so. It is easily detached (only held on with a few whip stitches) but we kept it on. The dress becomes plain without it. However, Im sure replacing it with a brooch of some sort or sash would be beautiful as well.

The dress comes with a sash/shoulder wrap that is about a foot wide and 4 feet long (give or take, i didnt measure it)and spaghetti straps to attach if needed. However, if you use the straps, they will have to be sewn on because there are no hooks on the dress. Also, another review mentions a loop on the sash to hook it to the dress. The loop is just there as a way to hang it on the hanger.

EASY ALTERATION:

Before purchasing this dress, I read several reviews stating the dress is large in the bust, and they were right, kinda... I ordered 2 dresses for girls that are both pretty "busty"(size C-D cups). One girl is rather thin, and usually has to go up a size to allow room for her "girls", then take it up at the waist. However, I stuck to the sizing chart when ordering, and suggest everyone order accordingly. The dresses fit perfect everywhere but at the top seam of the dress. Each girl had plenty of room in the bust; however, the dress doesnt taper back in toward the shoulders as much as it should. This resulted in the top of the dress standing away from the chest and allowing anyone looking from above to see straight down into their "business". So, we put a "dart" on each side midway between their underarm and nipple (sorry, not trying to be x-rated, but best way to describe.) What I mean by "dart" is at the location mentioned we took about a 1/2 inch up. The "dart" goes down towards the floor at about a 45 degree angel and gradually takes up less material until there is nothing left to take up. It ended up about 2 1/2-3" long. This pulled the top of the dress flush to the girl chest and no longer allowed full visual access to all their business. It also flatters their bustline much more and allowed us to not have to use straps.

If you have a girl that is a bit small in the bust, the dart should still probably only be 3" long max, but you will begin with taking more than a 1/2 inch out of the dress. I believe they make it this way so most everyone will fit, but you may have to take it up on some. Trust me! Putting this dart in the very top is MUCH easier than redoing the entire bodice because they have big boobs. Especially since there is boning in the bodice.

New Medium Full Drawstring Bridal Petticoat Wedding Gown Slip

This bridal petticoat/slip has a drawstring waist that fits sizes 4-20 (22" TO 38" WAIST). The slip is 40 inches in length and it has a top and underskirt made from crisp white bridal taffeta. Top skirt has a double 11" ruffles with beautiful scalloped lace trim on the bottom ruffle. Two tiers of tulle ruffle are attached to the underskirt and sandwiched in between so that no netting touches your skin and for added fullness to give an ultra slimming A-Line shape.

I needed a petticoat for an early 20th century costume that I was to wear at a museum function. I tried on a lot of petticoats and hoops but couldn't find one that would let me ride comfortably in a car and yet look authentic when I got to my destination. After reading that this petticoat had a drawstring waist, I decided to give it a try. Am I glad. This petticoat gives me the fullness I need to look authentic and also lets me do modern things like drive my car to get there. Why? Because I can loosen the drawstring when I get into the car to manage the bulkiness and then once I get to where I'm going I can pull it up and fit it to my waist so that the costume looks perfect. It's not scratchy because it has a soft lining between my body and the stiff material that creates the fullness in the slip. There is also a lining between the costume and the inner stiff material that allows the skirt to hang straight and not bunch. I'm giving my hoops away and keeping this petticoat. With the drawstring waist, I can use it even if I lose or gain weight. Definitely a keeper.

Style:106DS, This skirt is 40 inches long and has a drawstring waist that fits any size up to 34 inch waist. Double skirt of 100% bridal taffeta separated by three tiers (almost 60 yards) of tulle netting ruffles for added fullness.

This was a great price on a great crinoline. The drawstring fit is excellent, stays tied, fits changing/different sizes and who care is the drawstring isn't pretty, it's a slip, so it should be hidden. It was a bit bent out of shape when it got here, but that happens to tulle folded into a shipping box and should be expected by any reasonable and intelligent person. It's easy to fix, you just reach in and unfold the tulle and lay it down evenly, and then hang it up for a few days before wearing to let the wrinkles hang out. If that doesn't work, use a steaming tool to help you. If you don't have a steaming tool, throw it in the dryer on high heat with a very damp hand towel for 20 minutes, and remove immediately, shake the tulle down flat, place on a hanger, and fluff into desire shape. Many of the bad reviews I see for this item seem to be just people ignorant of how to care for this sort of item, so I thought I would give a quick "how-to" for future potential buyers. I bought this for my wedding dress, and since I know how to care for it, I am very happy with it. It does just as it looks like it will in the product picture. I will use this seller again; awesome!
