Uma Karuna Thurman Hawk

Born April 29, 1970 Uma Karuna Thurman Hawk better known as Uma Thurman, is an American actress. She performs predominantly in leading roles in a variety of films, ranging from romantic comedies and dramas to science fiction and action thrillers. She is best known for her work under the direction of Quentin Tarantino. Her most popular films include Dangerous Liaisons (1988), Pulp Fiction (1994), Gattaca (1997) and Kill Bill (2003–04).

"Tall, sandy blonde, with sort of blue eyes, skinny in places, fat in others. An average gal."
- Uma Thurman, on herself

"I would love to do something like Austin Powers to show off my comic timing. "

"As they say in gambling, I`ve gotten to stay at the table. I`ve hung in! They pull the plug on people all the time. The sky hook comes out, and it`s all over. But there are much bigger sky hooks - as well we know. (In Style - February 2006 - "Uma In Full".

“It is better to have a relationship with someone who cheats on you than with someone who does not flush the toilet”

"Desperation is the perfume of the young actor. It`s so satisfying to have gotten rid of it. If you keep smelling it, it can drive you crazy. In this business a lot of people go nuts, go eccentric, even end up dead from it. Not my plan"

"When asked if I consider myself Buddhist, the answer is, Not really. But it`s more my religion than any other because I was brought up with it in an intellectual and spiritual environment. I don`t practice or preach it, however."

"My washing machine overwhelms me with its options and its sophistication."

"I`m very happy at home. I love to just hang out with my daughter, I love to work in my garden. I`m not a gaping hole of need. "
- Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman's success can invariably be linked to her unique looks, but so can that of most of Hollywood's leading actresses. Uma Thurman, who started out as a fashion model, is one of the sexiest women in the world, though it is a gentle, quiet sexy -- the kind James Bond would love.

Thurman began her career as a fashion model at age 15.She signed with the agency Click Models. Her modeling credits included Glamour Magazine. In 1989, she appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine's annual Hot issue.

Thurman made her movie debut in 1988, appearing in four films that year. Her first two were the high school comedy Johnny Be Good and the teen thriller Kiss Daddy Goodnight. Thurman appeared in The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, playing the goddess Venus alongside Oliver Reed’s Vulcan. During her entrance Thurman briefly appears nude in a homage to Botticelli’s painting The Birth of Venus. With a budget of $46 million and box office receipts of only $8 million, the film was a commercial failure.

In 1990, Thurman co-starred with Fred Ward in the sexually provocative drama Henry & June, the first film to receive an NC-17 rating. Because of the rating, it never played in a wide release but critics embraced her; The New York Times wrote, “Thurman, as the Brooklyn-accented June, takes a larger-than-life character and makes her even bigger, though the performance is often as curious as it is commanding”.

After the birth of her first baby in 1998, Thurman took a rest from major roles to concentrate on motherhood. Her next roles were in low-budget and television films, including Tape, Vatel, and Hysterical Blindness. In 2000 she narrated a theatrical work by composer John Moran entitled Book of the Dead (2nd Avenue) at The Public Theater. She won a Golden Globe award for Hysterical Blindness, a film for which she also served as executive producer. In the film she played a New Jersey woman in the 1980s searching for romance. The San Francisco Chronicle review wrote, “Thurman so commits herself to the role, eyes blazing and body akimbo, that you start to believe that such a creature could exist — an exquisite-looking woman so spastic and needy that she repulses regular Joes. Thurman has bent the role to her will”

By 2005, Thurman was one of Hollywood's highest paid actresses, commanding a salary of $12.5 million per film. Her first film of the year was Be Cool, the sequel to 1995's Get Shorty, which reunited her with her Pulp Fiction castmate John Travolta. In the film she played the widow of a deceased music business executive. The film received poor reviews, and came in below expectations at the box office. In 2005 she starred in Prime with Meryl Streep, playing a woman in her late thirties romancing a man in his early twenties. Thurman's last film of the year was a remake of The Producers in which she played Ulla, a Swedish stage actress hoping to win a part in a new Broadway musical. Originally, the producers of the film planned to have another singer dub in Thurman's musical numbers, but she was eager to do her own vocals, She is credited for her songs in the credits. The film was considered a bomb at the box office, but many praised Thurman's efforts, including A. O. Scott of the New York Times who said: "Uma Thurman as a would-be actress is the one bit of genuine radiance in this aggressively and pointlessly shiny, noisy spectacle."

Thurman supports the United States Democratic Party, and has given money to the campaigns of John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Joseph Driscoll. She supports gun control laws, and in 2000, she participated in Marie Claire’s “End Gun Violence Now” campaign. She also participated in Planned Parenthood’s “March for Women’s Lives” to support the legality of abortion. Thurman is a member of the board of the New York- and Boston-based organization Room to Grow, a charitable organization providing aid to families and children born into poverty. She serves on the board of the Tibet House.

In 2007, Thurman hosted the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway with actor Kevin Spacey

"I would really want to work with Shah Rukh Khan because I want to beat his energy. Everyone keeps raving about his energy level and I want to show people that I can beat him on that," Shweta told IANS on telephone from Mumbai.

"I'm open to a deglamorised look, but I want to do more of commercial films, at least right now. I want to first make a mark for myself in the industry, create my identity and then do arthouse films. I feel it's important to first make a commercial value for yourself,"

“We need to really move ahead and spread the message to these masses who are living a very
underprivileged life unaware of issues pertaining to their children.”

"Sometimes you have to wait for the right kind of role. But you have to be patient because if you choose a wrong film, then it might hamper your career,"

Shweta says she had to be extra careful on the sets of "Loot".

"On the sets I had to be very conscious because everyone was senior and I didn't want to hurt anyone. In fact, once I called Govinda, Chichi bhaiya, and Suniel told me it wasn't appropriate. So after that I became very careful," Shweta said.

Shweta Bhardwaj is a new hottie ready to storm bollywood in a big way. She makes her debut with Suniel Shetty’s ‘Mission Instanbul’. She plays “Lara Croft type of character” in this movie. With hot looks and toned body - she may just sizzle in this role.

Genelia D'Souza is an Indian actress. She is well known for her work in Telugu and Hindi films and has also appeared in Tamil as well as Kannada language films.

" I don't think my name is complicated. I have gone to some remote places in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu where people can pronounce my name very well. I think it is just a matter of getting used to it and I am sure you will do too."

Mayte Michelle Rodriguez

Born on July 12, 1978
Mayte Michelle Rodriguez better known as Michelle Rodriguez, is an American actress, known for starring in films such as Girlfight, The Fast and the Furious, Resident Evil, and S.W.A.T. as well as her role in the television series Lost.

"My favorite part of my body is my brain. I think no matter what my body looks like I wont be satisfied unless I know how to use it."

"[on why she always plays the "tough girl"]: Well, could you really imagine me playing the girlfriend that needs rescuing? Or the girlfriend?"

"Whenever a female takes a strong stand for herself, the majority of the time they have to really, really narrow it down to being feminine and wearing dresses and just being lipstick chic."

"Until they come up with an independent woman who`s on an adventure of her own, I don`t think I`m interested."

"To get out of getting up at 5 in the morning, I`m gonna do Howard Stern next week. This time I`m
ready. I`ve got some good comebacks."

"The more confidence you have in yourself and the more you believe that you are destined to do what you are gonna do, it will happen."

"Jersey is my hometown, and I love it. I`ll probably hav
e houses in other places, but that`s my home, and nobody`s kicking me out of there."

"I don't want people to be like, 'She's hot-looking', you know? I want them to listen to me for what I am saying. And I think the best way to do that i
s to sniff my armpits, and like, sit and burp every now and then."
-Michelle Rodriguez

While some percentage of the population might get excited at the prospect of being physically assaulted by a voluptuous woman, we didn't count ourselves among them. Given Michelle's lovely exotic looks, it's a shame that she is frequently typecast as the gritty tomboy. It didn't help things that Michelle chose to fuse fiction and reality in March of 2002, when she proceeded to repeatedly punch her roommate in the head.

Now we may endorse the likes of Lennox Lewis engaging in beatings, but we're a bit more old-fashioned when it comes to the ladies. There's something distinctly unsexy about seeing a girl pound someone else's face like a hamburger patty. While some may argue that this opinion stems from a fear of having our face served as the hamburger patty, we don't really care to examine our deep-rooted motivations in judging sexiness. Low marks for Michelle in this category.

Having run across an ad for an open casting call and attending her first audition, Rodriguez beat 350 other applicants to win her first role in the low-budget 2000 independent film, Girlfight. Rodriguez's performance as Diana Guzman, a troubled teen who decides to channel her aggression by training to become a boxer, was recognized by both critics and audiences, but despite major industry buzz of a possible Academy Award nomination, she did not receive the Oscar nod. Rodriguez did however accumulate several other significant awards and nominations for the role in independent circles, including major acting accolades from the National Board of Review, Deauville Film Festival, Independent Spirit Awards, Gotham Awards, Las Vegas Film Critics Sierra Awards, and many others. The film itself took home top prizes at both the Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals.

Subsequently, she has had notable roles in other successful movies, including The Fast and the Furious, Resident Evil, Blue Crush, and S.W.A.T. In 2004, Rodriguez lent her voice to the video game Halo 2, playing a Marine. She also provided the voice of Liz Ricarro in the Cartoon Network series IGPX. From 2005 to 2006, she played tough cop Ana Lucia Cortez on the television series Lost during the show's second season (the character's first appearance was a flashback on season 1's finale, Exodus: Part 1), and returned for a cameo in the second episode of the show's fifth season in 2009. In 2006, Rodriguez was featured in her own episode of G4's show Icons.

In 2008 she appeared in Battle in Seattle alongside Charlize Theron. Rodriguez next appears in the latest installment of the The Fast and the Furious franchise, which is entitled simply Fast & Furious, due to hit theaters April 3, 2009. Rodriguez can also be seen in James Cameron's upcoming $200 million sci-fi adventure Avatar, due out December 18, 2009.

She recently wrapped filming on Trópico de Sangre, an independent film she is co-producing with her production company Cheshire Kat Productions, based on the Dominican Republic's historic Mirabal sisters who were assassinated in 1960 by the Dominican dictator for opposing his rule.

Notable rankings
Multiple times over the course of her career, she has been ranked in Stuff magazine’s “102 Sexiest Women In The World”, Maxim’s "100 Sexiest Women" and People En Espanol's "50 Mas Bellos".

Producing
Rodriguez co-founded a production company called Cheshire Kat Productions which is currently producing a historical drama called Trópico de Sangre (Tropic of Blood), in which she also stars.

Writing
Rodriguez is currently writing a screenplay for a family film based on a concept which she describes as "a 2012 story about purity and animals and children".
