Uma Karuna Thurman Hawk

Born April 29, 1970 Uma Karuna Thurman Hawk better known as Uma Thurman, is an American actress. She performs predominantly in leading roles in a variety of films, ranging from romantic comedies and dramas to science fiction and action thrillers. She is best known for her work under the direction of Quentin Tarantino. Her most popular films include Dangerous Liaisons (1988), Pulp Fiction (1994), Gattaca (1997) and Kill Bill (2003–04).

"Tall, sandy blonde, with sort of blue eyes, skinny in places, fat in others. An average gal."
- Uma Thurman, on herself

"I would love to do something like Austin Powers to show off my comic timing. "

"As they say in gambling, I`ve gotten to stay at the table. I`ve hung in! They pull the plug on people all the time. The sky hook comes out, and it`s all over. But there are much bigger sky hooks - as well we know. (In Style - February 2006 - "Uma In Full".

“It is better to have a relationship with someone who cheats on you than with someone who does not flush the toilet”

"Desperation is the perfume of the young actor. It`s so satisfying to have gotten rid of it. If you keep smelling it, it can drive you crazy. In this business a lot of people go nuts, go eccentric, even end up dead from it. Not my plan"

"When asked if I consider myself Buddhist, the answer is, Not really. But it`s more my religion than any other because I was brought up with it in an intellectual and spiritual environment. I don`t practice or preach it, however."

"My washing machine overwhelms me with its options and its sophistication."

"I`m very happy at home. I love to just hang out with my daughter, I love to work in my garden. I`m not a gaping hole of need. "
- Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman's success can invariably be linked to her unique looks, but so can that of most of Hollywood's leading actresses. Uma Thurman, who started out as a fashion model, is one of the sexiest women in the world, though it is a gentle, quiet sexy -- the kind James Bond would love.

Thurman began her career as a fashion model at age 15.She signed with the agency Click Models. Her modeling credits included Glamour Magazine. In 1989, she appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine's annual Hot issue.

Thurman made her movie debut in 1988, appearing in four films that year. Her first two were the high school comedy Johnny Be Good and the teen thriller Kiss Daddy Goodnight. Thurman appeared in The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, playing the goddess Venus alongside Oliver Reed’s Vulcan. During her entrance Thurman briefly appears nude in a homage to Botticelli’s painting The Birth of Venus. With a budget of $46 million and box office receipts of only $8 million, the film was a commercial failure.

In 1990, Thurman co-starred with Fred Ward in the sexually provocative drama Henry & June, the first film to receive an NC-17 rating. Because of the rating, it never played in a wide release but critics embraced her; The New York Times wrote, “Thurman, as the Brooklyn-accented June, takes a larger-than-life character and makes her even bigger, though the performance is often as curious as it is commanding”.

After the birth of her first baby in 1998, Thurman took a rest from major roles to concentrate on motherhood. Her next roles were in low-budget and television films, including Tape, Vatel, and Hysterical Blindness. In 2000 she narrated a theatrical work by composer John Moran entitled Book of the Dead (2nd Avenue) at The Public Theater. She won a Golden Globe award for Hysterical Blindness, a film for which she also served as executive producer. In the film she played a New Jersey woman in the 1980s searching for romance. The San Francisco Chronicle review wrote, “Thurman so commits herself to the role, eyes blazing and body akimbo, that you start to believe that such a creature could exist — an exquisite-looking woman so spastic and needy that she repulses regular Joes. Thurman has bent the role to her will”

By 2005, Thurman was one of Hollywood's highest paid actresses, commanding a salary of $12.5 million per film. Her first film of the year was Be Cool, the sequel to 1995's Get Shorty, which reunited her with her Pulp Fiction castmate John Travolta. In the film she played the widow of a deceased music business executive. The film received poor reviews, and came in below expectations at the box office. In 2005 she starred in Prime with Meryl Streep, playing a woman in her late thirties romancing a man in his early twenties. Thurman's last film of the year was a remake of The Producers in which she played Ulla, a Swedish stage actress hoping to win a part in a new Broadway musical. Originally, the producers of the film planned to have another singer dub in Thurman's musical numbers, but she was eager to do her own vocals, She is credited for her songs in the credits. The film was considered a bomb at the box office, but many praised Thurman's efforts, including A. O. Scott of the New York Times who said: "Uma Thurman as a would-be actress is the one bit of genuine radiance in this aggressively and pointlessly shiny, noisy spectacle."

Thurman supports the United States Democratic Party, and has given money to the campaigns of John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Joseph Driscoll. She supports gun control laws, and in 2000, she participated in Marie Claire’s “End Gun Violence Now” campaign. She also participated in Planned Parenthood’s “March for Women’s Lives” to support the legality of abortion. Thurman is a member of the board of the New York- and Boston-based organization Room to Grow, a charitable organization providing aid to families and children born into poverty. She serves on the board of the Tibet House.

In 2007, Thurman hosted the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway with actor Kevin Spacey

Stephanie Louise Rice

Born on June 17, 1988 in Brisbane, Queensland
Stephanie Louise Rice OAM is an Australian swimmer. She currently holds the world record in the 200 m and 400 m individual medley, and won three gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Rice is trained by Michael Bohl from the St Peters Western Swimming Club in Brisbane. She was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia on 26 January 2009.

Stephanie Louise Rice quotes
“I'm looking forward to seeing how much faster I can go and edging myself closer to being the number one in the world.”

"Stephanie Rice: To me Michael Phelps is a huge inspiration and someone I
really look up to."
-Stephanie Louise Rice

2006 Commonwealth Games, Melbourne
Rice was the gold medallist in the 200 metres and 400 metres individual medleys. In the 200 m she defeated Olympians Brooke Hanson and Lara Carroll to win the event in a time of 2:12.90, a personal best by 1.19 seconds.

2007 World Aquatics Championships
Rice won bronze in the 200 m and 400 m individual medleys. In the 200 m final, she recorded a time of 2:11.42, a second below the previous Australian record, behind American Katie Hoff in 2:10.13, and Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe, who claimed second place. In the 400 m final, Rice recorded a new personal best time of 4:41.19, shaving 0.54 sec off her previous best.

2007 Other events
Rice set a new personal best time of 4:40.79 in the 400 m individual medley at an Italian meet in June 2007,[citation needed] edging closer to the 4:40 barrier in the event.

At the 2007 Japanese Open Championships, Rice won silver behind Zimbabwean champion Kirsty Coventry in the 400 m individual medley. In doing so, she smashed her personal best time by 3.61 seconds, cracking the 4:40 barrier and setting a new Australian and Commonwealth record of 4:37.18.[citation needed]

Australian Olympic Trials
At the 2008 Australian Olympic trials, Rice broke the world record in both the 400 m and 200 m individual medleys. In the 400 m, she clocked 4:31.46, 1.43 seconds below American Katie Hoff's mark of 4:32.89. (Hoff retook the world record at the U.S. Olympic Trials, on 29 June 2008, with a time of 4:31.12.) In the 200 m, she clocked 2:08.92 seconds, taking almost a second off the previous record held by China's Wu Yanyan.

2008 Beijing Olympics
In Beijing, Rice won three gold medals (each in world record time) in the 200 m and 400 m individual medleys and in the 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay. In winning the 400m individual medley, Rice won her first Olympic medal, Australia's first gold medal of the games and its 400th Summer Olympic medal. Recording a time of 4:29.45, she reclaimed the world record from Hoff, bettering the mark by 1.67 seconds, and became the first woman to break the 4:30 mark in the event. (Kirsty Coventry also went under 4:30 in taking the silver.) Her second gold medal of the games came on 13 August in the 200 m individual medley with a new world record time of 2:08.34. Rice prevailed after being neck and neck with Coventry throughout the last 50 m, who once again followed Rice to beat the old world record. On 14 August she won her third gold medal as part of the 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay team. She led off the team and Australia were in second place at the end of her leg.

Photo 'scandal'
Rice made headlines in Australia when several media outlets published pictures from her Facebook page that showed Rice having fun with fellow swimmers, including Sullivan. One of the photos, from a costume party, showed Rice dressed as a policewoman in a skimpy outfit (Sullivan was dressed as a sumo wrestler). Though the photos were relatively innocent, they seemed to portray Rice as a "party girl," and Swimming Australia responded by asking her to take them down. But as internet photo scandals go, Rice's proved harmless. "It was a bit disappointing," Rice said. "But I wasn't too upset over it. I think that it was taken the wrong way, and everyone knew that the media was twisting it around."

Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente Scherzinger (also known as Nicole Kea)

Born on June 29, 1978
Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente Scherzinger (also known as Nicole Kea) is an American singer-songwriter, dancer, model and occasional actress, best known as the lead singer for the Pussycat Dolls. She took the surname Scherzinger when she was adopted by her stepfather.

"Busta Rhymes is pretty phat, man. He is so much fun. He's so humble and he just makes you feel good. When you're around him, you feel magical."

"To me, a Pussycat Doll is fearless but also vulnerable. We're strong, but we like to play too."

"Starting to sing, and seeing like all the kids, and everybody in front of us, I was just like had this huge smile on my face. And the lights, and the people, and the energy, and the fans, and the people, "Nicole", and "Oh My Gosh Eden's Crush!" It was just like, uh, it was such a rush!"

"When I was young, I signed all of my yearbooks with, "Remember me when I am famous" I didn't know it would happen so fast. "

"Beauty has to start with the inside first. If you're happy with yourself and you take care of yourself, then you will shine on the outside."

- Nicole Scherzinger

Scherzinger appeared on the second album by Days of the New, released in 1999. She also recorded two songs with Barry Drake's F.O.B, which were released in 2001. In 2001, Scherzinger competed in the premiere season of The WB's television show Popstars, on which she earned a spot in the all-girl pop group Eden's Crush. She became one of the main vocalists for the group. The group's 2001 single "Get Over Yourself (Goodbye)" peaked at number one in sales and hit the top ten on Billboard Hot 100. They toured in support of both *NSync and Jessica Simpson. "Love This Way" was the second single chosen from the Popstars album; however, their record company, London-Sire Records, folded and the group eventually disbanded. Songwriter Kara DioGuardi contributed one track to the album, and later went on to co-write with Scherzinger for PCD, Doll Domination and Her Name Is Nicole.

In May 2003, Scherzinger joined the Pussycat Dolls burlesque troupe, who were being re-cast as recording artists. She had first seen them performing on The Late Show with David Letterman in November 2002, where Carmen Electra sang "Big Spender" from the Bob Fosse musical Sweet Charity. In 2006, Scherzinger said "It caught my eye because I’d played Velma Kelly in [Fosse's] Chicago in college." The Pussycat Dolls now have worldwide status as a popular singing group, with "Don't Cha", "Buttons", "Stickwitu" and "When I Grow Up" as Top 10 hits in the U.S.. The album PCD went double-platinum in 2006. Scherzinger sang nearly all lead vocals on the album, with Carmit Bachar and Melody Thornton also contributing.

Scherzinger is the only group member with songwriting credits on PCD; she co-wrote "I Don't Need a Man" with Kara DioGuardi and producer Rich Harrison, and co-wrote "Buttons" with producer Sean Garrett. Another collaboration with DioGuardi, "Flirt", became a B-side to "Stickwitu" and a bonus track on PCD.

In 2006, Scherzinger toured with the Pussycat Dolls for their album promotion. It was revealed in 2006 that the Dolls are salaried employees of Interscope Records, giving the label a high level of control over the group's finances and business decisions.

Scherzinger appeared on the March 2008 cover of Men's Fitness magazine. She was called the lead or "Queen Doll". As with PCD, Scherzinger is the only group member to have songwriting credits on the second Dolls' album Doll Domination.

Along with the Pussycat Dolls, Scherzinger was asked by Ron Fair to record the English version of "Jai Ho", the hit song from the film Slumdog Millionaire. The new version titled "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" was released to iTunes on February 23 2009, and elsewhere worldwide on February 24. A video accompanying the song has been shot at a Vienna train station and was released worldwide on March 13, 2009. It is believed that the new single will be performed several times in March.

Following the popularity of "Don't Cha" and the continuing rise of the Pussycat Dolls, Scherzinger recorded a series of duets or "guest appearances", predominantly with male vocalists. In 2005, she appeared on recordings by Shaggy, Vittorio Grigolo, and Will Smith. In 2006 she sang on Avant's single "Lie About Us" , and Diddy's hit "Come to Me" (which she also co-wrote). Other appearances are listed in her discography.

In 2006 she also made a "Bench Body" brand underwear commercial in the Philippines.

From 2006 until the present day Scherzinger has been working on her debut album tentatively titled Her Name Is Nicole. She recorded or wrote nearly 100 songs for the album which was supposed to be released in 2007[citation needed]. Production credits included will.i.am, Timbaland, Kara DioGuardi, Ne-Yo, and Pharrell Williams. Collaborators for the album included Macy Gray, Akon, Busta Rhymes, Timbaland and Sting. Recordings were varied including the pop song "Baby Love", the ballad "Just Say Yes" and the Hawaiian heritage-inspired "Puakenikeni". A description of the album and recording background can be found on Nicole's Facebook account.

Some of the songs from the proposed album have now been released by other artists including the Pussycat Dolls who recorded "Happily Never After", "Who's Gonna Love You" and "When I Grow Up" for Doll Domination and Christina Milian who is set to record "Punch You In Your Sleep" for her new album Elope

Solo single releases
Released between July and December 2007, singles from the proposed album were "Whatever U Like", "Baby Love", "Puakenikeni" and "Supervillain" (the latter two released via iTunes only). All of these singles were unsuccessful in the US, "Baby Love" had been moderately successful in Europe reaching top 20 in most countries. The album itself was pushed back several times throughout 2007 and 2008 and has now been shelved.

In April 2008, Scherzinger recorded a cover version of "Rio" by Duran Duran for an advertising campaign for Unilever's Caress brand of body wash. A commercial video was released, and the single was released via download only, after May 2008. In 2008, in support of Barack Obama, she was one of many musicians to contribute to a track by will.i.am called "Yes We Can". Also on September 5, 2008, Scherzinger joined an all-star cast to perform the charity song "Just Stand Up" on live TV. This is currently Scherzinger's last performance as a solo artist before embarking on the Pussycat Dolls new World Tour.

In October 2008, she promoted Clear Shampoo and Conditioner, succeeding Rain who also endorsed the same product. Both commercials were reportedly aired throughout Southeast Asia. In 2008, she also appeared with LeBron James in a sneaker commercial.

Scherzinger performed “America the Beautiful" at WWE WrestleMania XXV in Houston, TX at the Reliant Stadium on April 5, 2009.

In both her interviews and live performances, Nicole Scherzinger exudes self-confidence and a true sense of strength, all while emanating an irresistible aura of femininity. She has gone on record saying that her favorite dance move is the "booty shake," which she effortlessly pulls off at any given opportunity. Like Gwen Stefani and Britney Spears before her, Nicole Scherzinger is clearly not afraid to use her sexuality to accentuate her performances, which is why she landed at No. 70 on our 2007 Top 99 Most Desirable Women list and at No. 48 on the 2008 edition. She was ranked at number 22 on Maxim's Hot 100 in 2006 and 21 in 2007.
