Geri Halliwell

Born 6 August 1972
Geraldine Estelle "Geri" Halliwell is an English pop singer-songwriter, children's author, actress and Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund.

Halliwell first became famous in the late 1990s as a member of the girl group the Spice Girls, which became one of the most successful girl groups of all time, selling in excess of 55 million records worldwide. As a solo artist, she has received four Brit Award nominations, released four number-one singles in the UK and sold around 4 million albums as a solo artist worldwide.

Geri first found fame as one of the five members of the girl group the Spice Girls, and was dubbed Sexy Spice for her seductive outfits and stage costumes. However, she preferred being called Ginger Spice stating, "I always thought of myself as clumsy, not sexy."

Halliwell became renowned for her independent and feminist attitude. The group joined the most successful musical artists of the 1990s, selling over thirty-five million albums with the studio releases Spice and Spiceworld.Their debut single "Wannabe" became the first of a string of number-ones in the United Kingdom (nine in total) and reached the top position in 41 countries around the globe, including Australia, Canada and the United States. Other successful releases followed, including "Say You'll Be There" and "2 Become 1" from Spice, and "Spice Up Your Life", "Too Much" and "Stop" from Spiceworld. As a songwriter, Geri - as part of the Spice Girls - set the record for the shortest time to achieve 6 no. 1 UK singles, taking 1 year 5 months from Wannabe's first week at no. 1 to the ascent of Too Much. This outpaced Lennon/McCartney, who took 1 year 6 months (From Me to You through I Feel Fine)

In 1999, after having left the Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell became a representative for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). As a goodwill ambassador, Halliwell toured the Philippines on a fact-finding trip. She visited with staff and clients of family planning clinics, women's groups in slum areas, and college students.

Halliwell picked up UN work again in 2006, by visiting Zambia from 14 November to 16 November, to promote greater international awareness of the urgent need to reduce maternal death and halt the spread of HIV/AIDS. Both aims are contained in the Millennium Development Goals adopted by the world's leaders in September 2000. She attended the first 2007 BBC Four Reith Lecture and can be heard asking questions on women's rights in the recording.

So far, Halliwell has garnered the following musical awards in her solo career. All of her other musical awards came with the band Spice Girls.

* 2000 - Capital FM Awards - Best British Female Singer
* 2001 - Comet Awards - Best international Female Singer
* 2002 - NRJ Music Awards - International Song of the Year ("It's Raining Men")

Besides acting, she is also a solo music artist and released her debut album Don't Forget on September 23, 2008. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 selling over 89,000 copies in the first week.

Lovato began her acting career at the age of six on the children's television series Barney & Friends as Angela, appearing in seasons seven and eight.

In 2006 Lovato guest starred on the second season of the television series Prison Break as Danielle Curtin in the episode "First Down". She also appeared in the second season of the television sitcom Just Jordan as Nicole, in the episode "Slippery When Wet". During this time she taped a television pilot for a series called Split Ends, but it was not picked up. In January 2007, she landed the role of Charlotte Adams, a series regular, on the Disney Channel Original Short Series, As the Bell Rings, which premiered on August 26, 2007 during Disney's Back-to-School special night.

She has also covered the Academy Award nominated song "That's How You Know" from Enchanted on DisneyMania 6 and Princess DisneyMania. She also recorded three songs for the Camp Rock soundtrack: "Who Will I Be?", "This is Me", and "Our Time Is Here". After singing in Camp Rock, she signed a record deal with Hollywood Records. Her cover of "Wonderful Christmas Time" by Paul McCartney is featured in All Wrapped Up, a holiday album.

In 2008, Lovato starred alongside the Jonas Brothers in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock. She played Mitchie Torres, a fourteen-year-old girl with hopes of becoming a singer. The movie premiered on June 20 in the USA on Disney Channel, and in Canada on Family.

She will reprise her Mitchie Torres role in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock 2.

She will start a tour to promote her music June 21, 2009.

Demi Lovato hates being judged by other people. The Sonny With A Chancestar said in an interview with M magazine, "I'll be the first to admit that I'm not perfect and I hate that people judge other teens and make them feel bad about themselves." AS demi has felt the pressure herself, she shared with her fans. “just be the best you can be." She recalled her days at school, "There was a petition called 'We hate Demi.' They would text me and say, 'We're going to make your life a living hell.' I remember asking them, 'What did I do?' and no one could answer."

Demi Lovato has earned a place on Forbes’ list of Breakout Stars of 2008. The list features the stars whose names have turned into household names along the year and “have more than a reality show crown or a must-see YouTube clip.” "I just have to keep working and have fun," the ‘Camp Rock’ darling told Forbes about her growing profile earlier this year. "Having fun is the most important part." The Jonas Brothers tops this year’s list, in which also appears Selena Gomez Robert Pattinson, and Shenae Grimes

Personal life
In an MTV interview, Lovato stated that she likes metal music, especially black metal and metalcore. She called symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir "one of her favorite live acts".

In the March 2009 issue of Teen Vogue, Lovato states, "My first passion is music, because it comes naturally to me. Acting has been like a hobby."

Stacy Ann Ferguson better known as Fergi

Born on March 27, 1975
Stacy Ann Ferguson better known by her stage name Fergie, is an American singer, songwriter, fashion designer, model, and actress. She was a member of the kids' television series Kids Incorporated, and the girl group Wild Orchid.

"There’s a song on the album called 'Pedestal,' which is my answer back to people who don’t do anything with their lives but stay on the internet for hours and talk sh*t about me."

"I have
had lesbian experiences in the past. I won't say how many men I've had sex with - but I am a very sexual person."

"I've looked all over for a replacement for Roy Keane but the simple truth is that there isn't one out there, ... He's just irreplaceable."

"I started doing Ecstasy. Then I got addicted to crystal methamphetamine. My weight dropped to 90lb. I lied to my friends and said I was bulimic. Finally I started going crazy. In that moment I talked to God and He said: `I`ve given you all these gifts, so what are you doing?` I decided to get clean. I told everybody what was wrong. "

"Who would I like to kiss? Probably Madonna because I`m jealous Christina and Britney already got there. "

"More than the results we've achieved, the thing that has impressed me the most is the spirit and determination the players have shown. I'm really proud of them and what they have achieved so far"

"[HOW THEY DRESS.] Everyone has their different look, ... Will's got his knickers and
crazy socks, and Taboo has his kung fu wear. I have to think of words to put my style into. I would say kind of urban gypsy, because I collect things, accessories, from all over the world [Asia, Africa, Brazil], and that is definitely what, for me, helps make an outfit my own."
- Fergie

There's something absolutely libidinous about a woman in the hip-hop industry. It's all about attitude, this in-your-face, come-hither mindset that calls upon the audience to imagine what the music suggests. Fergie embodies this state of mind and as a result she was chosen as one of Maxim's Hot 100 Women of 2006.

Fergie dated Justin Timberlake, who seems to have dated every sultry celebrity, before Britney Spears came along. And men aren't the only ones who find her appealing: A lot of the groupies that attend Fergie's concerts are lesbians hoping to get lucky. What we wouldn't give for a glimpse of that!

As a child actress, Ferguson was actually on the television program Kids Incorporated for several years with her TV sister Renee Sands, who became a fellow member of Wild Orchid. On the show, she sang Whitney Houston's "One Moment In Time". Ferguson was the voice of Sally Brown in two Charlie Brown specials: It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown (1984) and Snoopy's Getting Married, Charlie Brown (1985). She played Ann in Married... with Children (1994) "Nooner or Nothing".

In 2003, Ferguson had a guest role on the Rocket Power special, Reggie's Big Beach Break, on Nickelodeon; she voiced a pop music star named Shaffika. In March 2005, casting for Revolution Studios's big-budget remake of John Carpenter's The Fog was underway. Ferguson was set to return to acting in the role of lighthouse radio deejay Stevie Wayne (a part originated by scream queen Adrienne Barbeau). A last minute conflict arose, preventing her contract from closing and Ferguson left the project. The role eventually went to Selma Blair. Ferguson finally returned to acting in 2006, appearing as a lounge singer in Wolfgang Peterson's remake of The Poseidon Adventure. She later appeared in 2007's Grindhouse.

In 2003, the Black Eyed Peas were recording their third album, 2003's Elephunk, when will.i.am invited Ferguson to try out for a song called "Shut Up". She got the gig and instantly bonded with the trio to record five additional songs on the album.

In the following spring, shortly before Elephunk came out, Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine had offered Ferguson a permanent spot to take over vocal duties and fill the spot left void by background singer Kim Hill, who had left the group in 2000. When will.i.am was asked to sum up his bandmates, he called Ferguson the "body" of the group.

After releasing her debut solo album (see below), she and the Black Eyed Peas released their new song "Boom Boom Pow" in late March 2009

After two successful Black Eyed Peas albums, Ferguson began pursuing a solo career. She recorded two songs for the Poseidon soundtrack and performed "Auld Lang Syne" in the film.

Her debut solo album, The Dutchess, was released on September 19, 2006. The album's name is a misspelled variant of the former title of Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, with whom Ferguson shares a surname and popular nickname. The solo deal does not mean Ferguson is leaving the Black Eyed Peas, as she intends to remain with the group, alternating between the two duties. The album is similar in style to that of the Black Eyed Peas, as fellow Peas member will.i.am is the album's executive producer.

The Dutchess, a mix of pop and R&B songs, spawned six hits for Ferguson, beginning with "London Bridge", "Fergalicious", "Glamorous", "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Clumsy", and "Finally". "Big Girls Don't Cry" became Ferguson's first worldwide number-one single, and is her most successful single to date. Ferguson scored her fifth consecutive Top 5 hit from The Dutchess after "Clumsy" reached a peak position of number five on the Billboard Hot 100.

In addition to promoting her albums and singles, Ferguson appeared at Wembley Stadium on July 1, 2007, performing "Glamorous" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" in a concert for the late Princess Diana put on by her two sons Prince William and Prince Harry; the DVD of the concert was released November 5, 2007.

On November 18, 2007, Ferguson won the Pop or Rock "Favorite Female Artist" at the American Music Awards. In addition, her song "Big Girls Don't Cry" also earned Ferguson a Grammy nomination for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance", which she lost to Amy Winehouse. In December 2007, Blender picked Ferguson as their woman of the year.

Ferguson has also appeared on Nickelodeon's show Dance on Sunset. Ferguson has recently released an EP for download on iTunes featuring unreleased singles. The CD version was released on May 27, 2008.

Ferguson collaborated with Japanese singer Kumi Koda on the song "That Ain't Cool". "That Ain't Cool" was featured on Kumi's single "Moon", released on June 11, 2008. The single debuted at number two on the Oricon Weekly Single Charts. She also performed a "duet" with Michael Jackson (her vocals mixed with Jackson's 1982 recordings), "Beat It 2008" on Thriller 25, the 25th anniversary release of Jackson's iconic album Thriller. She also headlined the New Year's Eve party held at The Venetian and The Palazzo casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 31, 2008

In April 2007, she gave an interview in which she admitted that she went on a sex and drugs spree when she turned eighteen, saying: "I have had lesbian experiences in the past. I won't say how many men I've had sex with — but I am a very sexual person." In December 2007, when asked "Bisexuality and homosexuality are often either frowned or mocked upon in certain circles. Does that bother you?", she replied "No, it doesn’t bother me. I’m just me."

Taylor Alison Swift

Born December 13, 1989
Taylor Alison Swift is an American country-pop singer-songwriter. In 2006, she released her debut single "Tim McGraw", which peaked at number six on the Billboard country charts. Later in October 2006, she released her self-titled debut album, which produced five hit singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts and was certified 3× Multi-Platinum by the RIAA. The New York Times described Swift as "one of pop's finest songwriters, country’s foremost pragmatist and more in touch with her inner life than most adults"

Swift's singing influences include her grandmother and LeAnn Rimes. Although her grandmother was a professional opera singer, Taylor's tastes always ran more toward country and she developed a love for Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton at an early age. She also credits the Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain for demonstrating how much impact can be made by "stretching boundaries".

At age eleven, Swift made her first trip to Nashville hoping to obtain a record deal by distributing a demo tape of her singing with karaoke songs. She gave a copy to every label on Music Row. Swift faced rejection, not just from record labels, but also from her peers. After Swift returned to Pennsylvania, she was asked to sing at the U.S. Open tennis tournament; her rendition of the national anthem received a lot of attention.

Swift started writing songs and playing 12-string guitar when she was twelve. Swift began to regularly visit Nashville and wrote songs with local songwriters. By the time she was fourteen, her family decided to move to an outlying Nashville suburb. When Swift was fifteen, she rejected a development deal with RCA Records because the company refused to allow her to record her own songs. Swift then performed at Nashville's songwriters' venue, The Bluebird Café, catching the attention of Scott Borchetta who signed her to his newly-formed record label, Big Machine Records. She also became the youngest staff songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Tree publishing house

Swift's first single, "Tim McGraw", was released to radio in mid-2006 and reached number 6 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart during the week of January 27, 2007. Swift said, "I wrote the song in my freshman year of high school. I was dating a guy who was about to go off to college. I knew we were going to break up so I started thinking of all the things that I knew would remind him of me. Surprisingly, the first thing that came to mind was that my favorite country artist is Tim McGraw." Her self-titled debut album Taylor Swift was released on October 24, 2006. Swift wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album, which debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200 and sold just 39,000 copies during its first week.It later peaked at number one at Billboard Top Country Albums and number five on the Billboard 200. It also spent eight consecutive weeks at the top of the Top Country Albums charts and remained at the top for 24 out of 91 weeks. The only other country artists this decade to achieve the number-one sales position for 20 weeks or more are The Dixie Chicks and Carrie Underwood. As of November 2008, Taylor Swift has sold over three million copies and 7.5 million single downloads.

Swift has surpassed the 200 million mark for music streams on MySpace. She is currently ranked in the Top 10 for the most MySpace visits for all genres of music, and is MySpace's current top-ranking Country artist. Swift is the most searched musical artist on MySpace in 2008.

The music video for "Tim McGraw" set a record by appearing for 30 consecutive weeks on GAC's fan-voted weekly Top 20 music countdown show, and reached number one on CMT's video charts. The video also won Swift an award for Breakthrough Video of the Year at the 2007 CMT Music Awards. Her pursuit of country music stardom was the subject of "GAC Short Cuts", a part-documentary, part-music-video series airing since the summer of 2006 on the country music channel.

On May 15, 2007, Swift performed "Tim McGraw" at the Academy of Country Music Awards. She sang the song to Tim McGraw in the audience, and introduced herself for the first time to him. Swift has been an opening act for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on their Soul2Soul 2007 tour. She has opened in the past for George Strait, Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts as well. On August 21, 2007, Swift performed live on the season finale of America's Got Talent.

The second single from the Taylor Swift album, "Teardrops on My Guitar", was released February 24, 2007. The song originally made its peak positions in mid-2007, peaking at #2 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart and #33 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was re-released to the Hot 100 and Pop 100 in late 2007 with a pop remix that brought "Teardrops on My Guitar" to #13 on the Hot 100 and #11 on the Pop 100.

In October 2007, Swift's songwriting peers at the Nashville Songwriters Association International honored her with their Songwriter/Artist of the Year Award, making her the youngest artist ever to win the award

On November 7, 2007, Swift won the 2007 CMA Horizon Award and also performed "Our Song," the third single from her album, which would go on to become her first #1 song the week of December 22, 2007, where it leaped up from the #6 spot. This was the biggest jump to Number One since January 1998, when Tim McGraw's "Just to See You Smile", also jumped from #6 to #1. "Our Song" spent six weeks at #1 on the Country charts and also peaked at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #24 on the Billboard Pop 100.

In January 2009, Swift announced her first headlining tour. Swift will take her North American Fearless Tour 2009 to 52 cities in 38 states and provinces in the US and Canada over the span of 6 months. Opening acts include Kellie Pickler and Gloriana, a new group in country music. The tour will feature a theatrical presentation of graphics, sets and visual elements designed by Swift. Swift will play guitar as well as piano. Multiple costume changes and a fairy-tale castle are some of the elements of the three-act show.

Jakks Pacific released a celebrity doll of Swift in late 2008. Swift and the L.e.i. Clothing Line made a deal to create a line based on Swift's style of dressing. It will appear in Wal-Mart in the coming months. However, Swift said she does not want to be called a designer. Instead, she says she will inspire the clothing company's dress line based on her own style. "I don't look at it like I'm branching out as a designer... It's not the Taylor Swift designer line." In 2009, Swift became the National Hockey League's newest celebrity spokesperson. She appears in commercials for the Nashville Predators.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Swift was the biggest selling artist of 2008 in America with combined sales of more than four million albums. Swift's Fearless and her self-titled album finished 2008 at number three and number six respectively, with sales of 2.1 and 1.5 million. She was the first artist in the history of Nielsen SoundScan to have two different albums in the Top 10 on the year end album chart.Fearless has topped the Billboard 200 in 11 different weeks. No album has spent more time at number one since 1999-2000. It also the first album by a female artist in country music history to log eight weeks at #1 on The Billboard 200. In mid-January 2009, Swift became the first country artist to top the 2 million mark in paid downloads with three different songs. As of the week ending February 8, 2009, Swift's single "Love Story" became the country song with most paid downloads in history and the first country song to top the Mainstream Top 40 chart.

Charitable work
On September 21, 2007, Swift launched a campaign to protect children from online predators. She has teamed up with Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen to combat internet sex crimes. The year-long campaign, launched in partnership with the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, will distribute Internet safety information and materials to parents and students across the state.
